If I knew you were coming...

Okay, Okay.

It's been long past a month since I blogged. I do apologize. I honestly just haven't been in the mood.

Here's the summary of events since my last entry...down and dirty:

I turned tail and walked briskly away from the man who "swore he knew me from L.A."

I met up with friends from Arizona in New Mexico. We stayed a day in NM and gambled. I lost $40. Dammit.
It was, as always, fun to people watch. Always a little frightening, too, especially when you see the man wheeling around an oxygen tank with tubes fed up his nose, struggling to light a Marlboro Red cigarette.

While it's fun to have friends with which to drive / follow cross country, there are drawbacks.

Rocks kicked up from their trailer cracking the windshield of my truck being one them.

However, all in all, my trip was a good one.

My stay in North Carolina with my folks and the vacation time spent with my brother and sisters is fodder for a different blog entry. To pique your interest for that entry I'll just say it'll have something to do with frogs and their odd attraction to me.

I'll jump now to the present: I am currently in Virginia, getting ready to start prep for "THE MAGIC FLUTE" at Wolf Trap. I met my new host family today, and I will admit that I was holding my breath as my host housing has not always met with success here.

I approached the house in Reston with a slightly heavy footfall, took a deep breath and raised my hand to ring the doorbell. Before my finger could even come close the button, the front door was swung open, I was informed that my host was a hugger, and was then swept into an enthusiastic embrace by Sally. Even I, the non huggers of the non huggers couldn't help but hug her back.

Sally lead me into the kitchen for another announcement: She baked me a cake.

I think I'm going to like it here.
